My expectations may, therefore, have been lower than others'. (To clarify: I backed the Kickstarter hoping for a modern remake of Total Annihilation (primarily better pathfinding), and I thought the planetary maps were a cool innovation in the RTS genre. Look up youtube videos of tournaments (able gamers, clash of the TITANS) if you want to get a better idea of what you're missing! It adds quite a bit of diversity to the game, and it's a lot of fun.

I got it for free because I backed the kickstarter, but I'd say it's worth 15 bucks. I doubt you'll have to buy the expansion to keep playing, but if you've bought vanilla you should get 2/3 off (I don't know when that offer expires). So people being (in my opinion) overly negative may have prompted Uber to close the classic storefront, and they'll probably want to focus on Titans in the future. As a result, when I play PA now (Titans or vanilla) I feel like I'm playing the game I backed on Kickstarter on the basis of a concept video. I think they launched prematurely, but after a lot of PR stumbling I feel they've pulled through in a way that a lot of crowdfunded developers (and many publisher-funded) don't. Well as always the loudest people may not be the majority. I'm curious about what will become of my son's access to the game and what you guys constructively expected of the developers. These are all genuine questions/sentiments. Other than do the seemingly impossible - have met all their kickstarter promises, which it seems they were unable to do on time - what do you guys have against the developers to the point that they had to literally fork the game in order to have a fresh start for getting positive reviews on the current state of it instead of the in-progress version of the original release? A lot of salt over the release of the game, when no release would have been met with a similar or worse backlash ("you lied", "vapourware", and many of the other "never again" sentiments regarding backing kickstarter). Negative reviews to the point that new sales were being severely impacted. Regular updates met with constant demands for refunds and repudiation.

PLANETARY ANNIHILATION TITAN PATCH UPDATE

Yet still I see tremendous negative backlash on any update thread on Steam or indeed on many of the threads here.ĭo you think the community has backed the developers into a corner? They were in a no-win situation. Regarding the 'tough crowd' - the game seems to still be getting regular (weekly) updates, is out, and seems to have a good amount of content and features. What does this mean for him? Do I now have to buy Titans if he wants to continue playing it or will the existing Steam users continue to be supported? In fact, given how much fun my son had been having with it, I had told him to leave a positive review which was when we discovered the store page was gone. I understand the game has received a tremendous amount of negative feedback from the backers of Kickstarter (hey, you guys are a tough crowd). He is enjoying it, and it still has a Steam community page, but no longer a store page. However, the Titans store page is up, and presumably the focal point for Uber Entertainment. So I can no longer see a store page for Planetary Annihilation.
